Tuesday July 19, 2005 MLB Picks
A subpar 1-1 day Monday. We lost our 1.5 unit play on the Reds but won
our over in that game. We saw a really high scoring game in which both
teams would be near double digits but with the Reds pulling it out. We
were partially right but went -0.55 Units for the day.
Anyways, onto our Tuesday picks.
Cincinnati Reds +170 over Chicago Cubs (2.0 Units)
Our simulations are telling us that the Reds are going to bust out
offensively. They did not do it yesterday but we see them doing it
today. We are backing them with 2.0 units today because of the very
very generous spread. We are willing to risk a little bit more to win
A LOT more.
Texas Rangers +130 over New York Yankees (1.5 Units)
I am glad to see the Rangers lose yesterday. The Rangers are 17-5 +12
Units off a loss at home against right handed pitching dating back to
last year. 8-3 this season. They average 5.9 runs per game in this
angle. Mike Mussina is good but this will be the Yankee downfall. With
the Yankees using up a lot of their bullpen, which is already banged
up, expect to see too much Mussina, a little bit too much. Remember
Mussina's last outing, Torre left Mussina in quite a while despite
giving up 5 early runs. Well, Mussina lasted well but it will come to
bite them today. Should I mention Mussina's road ERA is over 5?
Texas Rangers - New York Yankees OVER (1.0 Units)
Read my explanation for the Rangers and overlay that information with
the fact that the Yankees are pounding everybody offensively and we
will have a nice juicy over. We almost took the Rangers over yesterday
but we also almost took the Rangers which is good because they lost.
Now watch the Rangers and the Over come in.
Toronto Blue Jays -1.5 RUNLINE +150 over Seattle Mariners (1.0 Units)
I keep losing when I bet these Blue Jays. Let's continue to bet them
though. The Blue Jays are putting up Ted Lilly a southpaw against a
meager Mariners offense that cannot hit lefties. Second, we expect
good things to come from the Blue Jays today as we see them off a
series loss. Not any series loss but a loss to the DEVIL RAYS! Their
final two games of the series ended up as one run losses. Coming off
consecutive one run losses is a good proposition. Also, since the Blue
Jays have stayed home as opposed to a Mariners team that is travelling
from the west coast, we love the Blue Jays in this spot especially at
+150 on the run line.
