7/26/05 Tuesday July 26 MLB Picks (3)
Oakland Athletics -1.5 RUNLINE +140 over Cleveland Indians (1.0 Units)
The Oakland Athletics are one of the hottest teams in baseball. When
home teams win, they win at a 70% clip but there is reason to believe
that they will fair much better than that. The A's are 12-6 this
season at home versus right handers if they are coming off a win. The
Indians are also struggling lately so we are taking the momentum here
on the RUNLINE at +140 value.
Los Angeles Dodgers -1.5 RUNLINE +140 over Cincinnati Reds (1.0 Units)
The Dodgers are starting to pick up offensively. I don't know if it is
getting Milton Bradley back but the Dodgers offense is starting to
score. The Reds are struggling offensively, even at home. But on the
road, they just cannot match up to anybody where they are 11-32. The
Dodgers see themselves at 5 games behind first place, do not expect to
see them give up on these types of games where they should win because
time will run out otherwise. We like the +140 here as well on the
runline.
Initially I had started planning on banking the Mets moneyline for a
big 2.0 unit play. There were many reasons to dig their momentum
coming into this series. Anyways, we cancelled our play completely
after learning that these Rockies are 11-4 at home versus left handed
pitching. Kazuhisa Ishii is not only a left-hander but VERY
susceptable to giving up homeruns. We still believe the Mets will
perform well offensively here but with a possibly shaky performance
awaiting from Ishii as well as their horrendous 19-27 road record, we
are cancelling them. Nevertheless here is our play as a result.
New York Mets - Colorado Rockies OVER 12 (1.0 Units)
Read paragraph above. Rockies are averaging 7.5 runs per game at home
versus lefties. Mets are averaging 5.5 runs per game on the road
versus lefties. The low scoring affair yesterday will make both teams
aggressive at the plate today and could boast one team single handedly
getting up to around 8-9 runs.
