10/4/2005 Tuesday's MLB Playoffs Pick (1)
Los Angeles Angels -120 over New York Yankees (1.5 Units)
The Yankees have been on a roll to get into these playoffs as the AL East winner. The Angels have been just as good. They reeled off 8 straight and played well enough to win home field advantage in the first round. They have their pitching set up perfectly with Bartolo Colon first and then John Lackey second. We cannot say the same for the Yankees as they have to start Mike Mussina in Game #1. Mussina has been decent this year but is boasting a 5.34 road ERA this season. Bart has been rocked by the Yankees this season having given up 7 homers in 10.2 innings against them, 4 of them to A. Rod alone but he should come up with a strong game today as the Yankees struggled in Game 1 against Santana last year. Plus Bart is the best pitcher in the AL.
