10/8/2005 Saturday's MLB Picks (3)
After seeing a trend for home teams winning, we backed two large road dogs and came up huge yesterday and we do not plan to stop backing these road teams.
St. Louis Cardinals -140 over San Diego Padres (1.0 Units)
You really ought to bet this game as early as possible. The public is going to bet the Cardinals spread way up but for good reason. They are by far the better team. Do not get scared by the fact that Woody Williams used to play for the Cardinals because if anything, La Russa would be able to play him better. We backed a road team yesterday in the White Sox off two home wins. This is another similar situation.
Atlanta Braves +135 over Houston Astros (1.0 Units)
The Braves are coming into this series with a lot of momentum. The media hype on their rookies is going overboard. Nevertheless, Jorge Sosa is another amazing gems for these Braves. He has been pitching well and we can expect him to pitch well today as well. The +135 is pure value.
Los Angeles Angels over New York Yankees (1.0 Units) SPREAD UNKNOWN
Only take this game if the spread for the Angels is above +120. I am pretty sure it will be. The Yankees are going to be totally overvalued here at home off a loss. I say they will get shocked to see a more determined and aggressive Angels team early tomorrow. There is not much of a time difference between the ending of Game 3 and the start of Game 4. This benefits the winner because they will be able to sleep better and get the job done the next game. This happened last year when the Yankees lost Game 4 late against the Red Sox. The Red Sox ended up winning Game 5. The Angels also know that the White Sox are resting and setting their rotation in time for the ALCS so the Angels should come out strong. They beat Randy Johnson and gave Aaron Small his first loss of the season. The Angels should be able to hand Chacon a similar awakening.
