We had a profitable 1-1 with our dogs yesterday. It would have been nice to go 2-0 but we have to be lucky we did not go 0-2. The Cardinals probably could have won that game, just too many bad calls against the Cards. La Russa and Edmonds were kicked out of the game.

We look at today's game and see value in these Astros. For every reason we backed them Sunday, we are backing them Monday. Home teams in divisional rivalry games in the playoffs are stunning. This series has turned out 10 of 11 home winners dating back to last year. The Cardinals are bigger favorites because this is a "must win" and they have Carpenter on the mound. "Must wins" in the playoffs are ludicrous, every game to every team is a must win. The Astros are only averaging 3.25 runs in this series but see themselves up 3-1. We understand that Carpenter is a great pitcher and should slow down the Astros offense but these Astros have not been outscoring teams, they are winning with pitching and defense. They still have a decent pitcher on the mound in Pettite and with the home field advantage, +122 is a great deal.
