9/13/05 Tuesday's MLB Picks (4)
St. Louis Cardinals -1.5 RUNLINE over Pittsburgh Pirates (1.0 Units)
We are taking this game on the runline because we are expecting pretty bad odds. Dontrelle Willis won game #21 yesterday and that will be sufficient motivation for our Chris Carpenter today against a really weak offense of the Pirates.
Cleveland Indians -155 over Oakland Athletics (1.0 Units)
If only the spread here was where it probably should be, then we would have taken it for 1.5 units. There is still value in this play but the public opinion on these Indians are generating a more inflated spread than if they were low key. The Indians are coming off a home shut out loss and are playing at home against the same opponent. This bodes well for the Indians especially considering how well teams have done this season off a shut out loss. Also, keep in mind that these Athletics are dominant against lefties and played their last two games against lefties. This bodes poorly for them here as we see them having to switch and face a righty. What is worse for them is the fact that they did not even hit well in their past two games. But Kenny Rogers and CC Sabathia had a lot to do with it. Anyways, we see the A's slump offensively here and for the A's to pick up their bats.
Milwaukee Brewers -106 over Arizona Diamondbacks (1.5 Units)
The D'backs have a 29-40 home record. The Brewers have a winning NL West record and actually have the same record as the NL West leading Padres. The Brewers are actually coming on lately and we are going to take advantage by taking these Brewers here as small favorites.
Kansas City Royals +170 over Chicago White Sox (1.0 Units)
The Royals are never a popular pick because they are simply lousy but they are catching the White Sox in a virtual tailsping. The White Sox have not been playing well at all and might be overlooking these Royals here today in Game #1.
