MLB Playoff Pick - Tuesday 10/03/06
New York Yankees -223 over Detroit Tigers (1.0 Units) - You may wonder why all of a sudden there is all this juice in the playoffs. The Yankees are -220 and the Twins -190. Well, it is because home teams in the playoffs fare slighty better than during the regular season. But more importantly as to why we are making this pick, the Yankees smash left handed pitching. And it is practically everybody on the team.
- Damon hits 20 percent higher against lefties than righties... His OBP is 50 points higher.
- Jeter hits 65 percent higher against lefties.
- Abreu is about even steven.
- A. Rod has an OBP of 70 points higher against lefties.
- Giambi is a lame duck against lefties.
- Sheffield and Matsui are having short seasons but both were great against lefties last season. Both were averaging 0.370 and 0.340 against them last season.
So as you can see, we are going to take the big bad bats of the bronx against Nate Robertson. Besides, the Tigers have stumbled into the playoffs.
