Betting on sports has become tougher for sports handicappers because of the internet. The simple betting systems that used to win large sums of money for sports handicappers have become widely distributed over the internet to the point that Vegas already adjusted the odds for it. But fear not! Dedicated sports handicappers have another outlet with which they have an edge, and that is Proposition Bets.
Proposition bets have rapidly grown because of the internet. To distinguish themselves apart from other Sportsbooks, they will offer unheard of propositions in so many areas to attract customers. Another benefit to providing propositions is Futures Prop bets because they generally take several months to be evaluated, customers lock up their money in the sportsbook for a long time. The longer the money stays with the sportsbook, the more likely the customer will bet.
Propositions are not as thoroughly researched as the traditional sides and totals. Every book has those lines and create a sort of buffer against weak odds but with proposition bets being unique from book to book, poorly researched weak odds are very common.
As for Futures bets, the sportsbooks do not mind offering weak lines. Psychologically, when one sees a Futures bet that is too good to be true, they are likely to bet the maximum on it. But having to wait 6 months until the end of the season to cash it in, the likely thing the bettor will do is continue to bet with the sportsbook. As a result, very good prop bets are to be had.
Prop bets are also targeted towards the novice gamblers but because of its weak lines, sports handicappers are starting to take notice of this very profitable area of sports gambling and are cashing in. If you are an expert Fantasy Sports player, try your luck at Prop bets on the number of points players will make on a game. You would be amazed at how poorly researched most of the lines are.
