Spero Dedes
Spero Dedes is one of the youngest sports broadcasters out there. He may only be 26, but he is one of the wisest play-by-play announcers in the country. He is truly what most networks see as being an up and rising star in sports announcing. Already he has done play-by-play work for most of the major TV networks.
Recently, Spero Dedes hosted the NBA Insiders which is a live hour-long interview show that comes on nightly. It is all about the NBA and Dedes did great hosting it. In addition to this big gig, Spero Dedes has also been in charge of the NBA TV’s First Round Playoff announcing as well.
He has also worked with YES Network’s college sports coverage and been a fill in announcer for the Nets’ telecast and as a fill in studio host for the Yankees’ and Nets’ pre-game and post-game shows.
Dedes graduated from Fordham university in 2001 and began working at WFAN Radio in New York. Having received the Marty Glickman Award, which is only given to the top graduate, there was a lot expected of Spero Dedes when he first hit the workforce. And so far he has not disappointed anyone.
So, if you want to know exactly who will be the biggest rising star in sports broadcasting over the next twenty years, you should think about Spero Dedes because he will be one of them for sure! The other guys his age should watch and learn exactly what Spero is doing to stay on top.
