Spring training, the annual practice session before baseball season kicks off, is alive and well with some new additions. Russ Adams and Aaron Hill are both going to start this season with the Toronto Blue Jays. A team known for taking a chance on young players, has many new faces this season. It is hard to recruit ball players for the team because many players do not go on to the majors after college. Most teams in the league cannot pay the salaries they used to. Football is America’s new favorite sport. While baseball is still loved by many, not as many people go out to enjoy a game as they used to.
Spring training takes place in Florida. There are many fans who will pay for tickets to see spring training take place. It is a chance to see new faces and see how teams are going to perform in the coming season. It seems many teams this year have open spots to fill. It is exciting to see who will fill them. The Marlins, for example, have to fill most positions on the team. Many team members retire or are cut when they fail to perform. Sports teams go through new players every few years. At spring training, the fun is had in watching who will make the cut.
Once teams have been chosen, the season will start. This will last all summer until the World Series, which takes place between the two best teams of that season. This is what most fans look forward to. Spring training is an indication of how the season will turn out. Many people gauge a season from watching the players practice. Die-hard fans come from all over the world to catch a glimpse of some new talent and to watch their favorite team in action.
