April 10, 2008 Baseball Picks

We had no picks yesterday but we are back in action today. We were very close to taking the Pirates, a team that lost to the Cubs, but we posted a writeup on our website to discuss the reasons we chose not to take the play based on a prediction taken from a sample of 49 games that suggested the Cubs offense could explode. The Cubs won but we were wrong anyways.

and what stands out at this point is the fact that the Royals are in first place, at +6.75 units. And then the team we are backing today is in the #2 position. Remember that at this point in time last year, we were all riding the Brewers bandwagon but what happened to them at the end of the season, lol.

Here is our pick for today:

Baltimore Orioles +136 over Texas Rangers (1.0 Units) - Talk about a team that is wholly undervalued. These Orioles have won six straight games, putting up big numbers on offense, and going against a Rangers team that in 3 of the past 5 games was only able to score 1 point. You add in the fact that these Orioles have a lefty in the mound apt to stifle these on-again off-again Rangers bats, you have a pretty good bet with these Orioles at +136. The Orioles fall into two of our more popular systems. The first involves betting on a road dog of +135 or more but that has won 6+ games in its last 10. There are more factors to it than that to make it a "value" play. Then you have these Rangers at -144??? That's a bit over-hyped for the reasons we've stated above. We have got this game as action only if A. Loewen pitches for the Orioles.
