These Cubs are an extremely strong pick for us... for a road team to be such a large favorite, it is usually because they have their ace on the mound... and should win. Zambrano is not the only reason to support the Cubs.

This is the first game of the series and there are a couple of items that help (or hurt) a team's prospects against the moneyline in the first game of the series... and of those, these are some of the ones that are affecting today's game.

Teams coming off a loss lose a bit on the spread... teams that got swept are even worse on the spread... Astros fall into that category.

Teams coming off a win, sweeping their prior opponent, etc gives a team value coming into the series.

Road favorites against non-divisional rivalry teams also are very strong.

These Dodgers are struggling right now but going against the Rockies is the perfect remedy to bring them out of their woes. Because as poorly as these Dodges are playing, they have the upside of having Lowe pitching today and he may dominate today against the struggling Rockies. And then the Rockies are losers of seven straight games...
