Picks for 7/1/09
Result: +1.60 units
We have not had a great season thus far despite the fact that the free picks on the website are doing well but we went 3-1 yesterday and I feel that the tide is starting to turn. A lot of the problems we've had this season is because of interleague play. We've been totally screwed with our interleague picks thus far in the season, likely because it hasn't played out the way in year's past.
But hold on tight as we continue to make improvements to our website and picks, both free and premium.
Houston Astros (-123) over San Diego Padres (1.5 Units) -
The Padres are winners of 3 of 4 games and the Astros are losers of 2 of 3 games but we like the value we get with these Astros. The Astros have won 5 of Moehler's last 6 starts, including his last 4 road starts. There's a great deal of confidence that comes with the Astros when they have him on the mound. The Padres are only 1-3 with Silva on the mound, and they barely score runs.
With the Astros looking to bounce back off a 1-run loss yesterday, we think they'll have the pitching advantage today by a large margin and that will take advantage of the fact that the Padres struggle to score, averaging just 3.2 runs a game L5.

San Francisco Giants (124) over St. Louis Cardinals (1.0 Units) -
The Giants are pretty darn hot at the moment. In fact, they are just 6 games back of the Dodgers in the NL West. With that said, we'd have to be silly to pass them up at +124 when they are playing an opponent that is averaging only 2.2 runs a game L5.
-----------------------------
Chicago White Sox (110) over Cleveland Indians (1.0 Units) -
The White Sox love batting against lefties. They average half a run more against lefties than they do against righties. So perhaps that was why they scored 11 runs yesterday. Well, today they face a lefty again. And the fact that they are scoring runs like a machine, we've got to take them as a dog against a divisional rival.
Contreras sucks... but the Indians are 2-6 with Sowers on the mound anyways. So the White Sox offense gets our bet.
Take this game action with Sowers pitching for the Indians.
