Pittsburgh Pirates (-109) over San Francisco Giants (1.0 Units) -
The Pirates are our first favorites we are going to take since the All Star break. And a lot of it stems from the fact that they won last night in extra innings. A 2-1 score means both teams were struggling to score. And a 14 inning finale won by a home team always benefits the home team. Imagine being a road team and having to play a late 14 inning game, lose in walk off fashion and then having to check into a hotel. Their spirits cannot be at the level of the Pirates. And the fact that these Pirates are small favorites is to our advantage, it just means they really should be that much heavier of a favorite. We feel that the Pirates are a good investment pick.
Los Angeles Angels (-122) over Oakland Athletics (1.0 Units) -
Just as we stated prior to the All Star break, the Angels are on a mission to play well against divisional rivals. Because they were -7 units in the first half of the season against divisional rivals was cause for them to actually play well against them, specifically against the worst team in the division: the Athletics.
These Angels are 17-8, +12 units in the third game of a series, so we like them a lot today.
