We went 1-1 yesterday. We neither won money nor lost any. Today, we've got 4 picks.
Texas Rangers (-120) over Detroit Tigers (1.0 Units) -
Our reasoning for taking these Rangers were quite simple yesterday and they don't change today. We'll take them as small favorties anyday against a struggling Tigers team.
------------------------
Florida Marlins (107) over Atlanta Braves (1.0 Units) -
The Marlins have excelled in divisional rivalry games this season, going 19-13, +8 units. And since they are home dogs in such a game, we feel compelled to take them.
We also do so knowing that the Braves are not so good after scoring double digits, just 3-6 this season..
----------------------------
Colorado Rockies (-136) over New York Mets (1.0 Units) -
The Rockies are 13-6 in Marquis' 19 starts this season. Including 7-3 at home. So we like the Rockies to bounce back from yesterday for a couple of reasons. First, Marquis as is obvious.
Second, these Rockies love hitting against righties. So much so that they are 15-7 in games against righties if their prior game was against a lefty. That is good for +9.4 units. Then they excel in non-divisional rivalry games.
So with the pitching and hitting dynamics in their favor, we don't mind to take them.
----------------------------
Chicago Cubs (-117) over Houston Astros (1.0 Units) -
The Astros are struggling to score. And although Dempster has not pitched very well at all this season, we'll understand that every pitcher will have his spots. And his opportunity for a good game will be one that is against a struggling offense. And with the Cubs offense going at full speed, we think the Cubs are an easy choice at home with the spread only -117.
