Picks for 5/30/11
Result: +2.69 units
Tough one run loss yesterday with those Twins.
Padres [169] versus Braves (1.0 Units) - Aaron Harang is clearly the Padres' ace right now. They are +4.5 units in his starts. The Padres are a much better road team than home team. The Braves are clearly a better team but with the odds we're getting on an above 500 road team with their ace on the mound is pretty darn good.
Reds [-124] versus Brewers (1.0 Units) - We don't take too many favorites let alone favorites in divisional rivalry games. But if we do, you got to believe we checked out the game really well. These Reds have lost two straight games by one run. That's a motivational factor that is good for a baseball team. They have also only won 2 games L10. So in their minds, they will play as if they were the underdog. In and of themselves, these angles are not worth the pick. What's worth the pick is the fact that they are going up against a lefty, they hit lefties hard for more than 2 runs a game than against righties. And not only that, Narveson of the Brewers is the only one of their pitchers that has lost units for them. These Brewers are also -9 units on the road. So we expect the Reds to bounce back from their prior two one-run losses, reverse the 2-8L10 slide they have been on by whooping on the worst pitcher on the Brewers. Take the listed pitcher Narveson.
